ReEnvisioning Neighborhoods: Community Revitalization in Mueller, TX

Analyze the physical, spatial, and socio‐cultural context of the Mueller neighborhood. In this research phase, students will learn how to address urban‐scale issues from various perspectives (e.g. morphological, perceptual, and socio‐cultural). Students will propose a neighborhood‐scale design plan. This phase includes a series of exercises regarding neighborhood design such as 1) interpreting/programming the site, 2) proposing solutions to existing constraints of the site, and 3) situating the site within the larger urban context.
Mueller’s park spaces could do more to connect with the surrounding neighborhoods. My proposal introduces two lively spaces that pair interactive green areas with nearby commercial and residential uses, giving people of different ages more reasons to visit and spend time there.
Inclusivity and neighborhood connection are central to the design. The southern space builds on nearby amenities and creates a welcoming link between Mueller and the surrounding urban landscape.
