HOCKING HILLS
Set among the hills of Ohio, the Hocking Hills Writers’ Retreat offers a quiet setting for creative work. Gardens and a secluded island give writers places to wander, reflect, and find solitude. Together, these spaces create opportunities to step away from daily routines and draw inspiration from the surrounding landscape.

A CABIN IN THE WOODS - WRITER’S OASIS
The Writer’s Oasis is a woodland retreat designed to give writers space for both solitude and exploration. Cabins, gardens, and trails offer different ways to settle into the landscape, while a pond and island campsite provide a more secluded place to reflect and write.
Pond and island campsite: A footbridge leads to a small island where guests can camp, reflect, and write.
Guest cabins: Cabins nestled among the trees offer writing desks, fireplaces, and large windows with views of the woods.
Orchard and gardens: Guests can walk through the gardens, enjoy fruit from the orchard, or find a quiet place to sit.
ATV and hiking trails: A network of trails offers routes for both riding and walking.
Vehicular bridge: A bridge connects the main entrance to the retreat’s central areas.

CAD PLAN - POND ENLARGEMENT
During design development and construction documentation, I translate hand sketches into CAD drawings that can be coordinated, detailed, and built. This process preserves the intent of the original design while clarifying dimensions, materials, and site conditions for the construction team.
DESIGN DETAILS - JUMPING ROCK
Following a project from concept through construction has shown me how a design can evolve on site. For the jumping rock, we worked with large boulders found on the property. The CAD details established the design intent, but the final arrangement took shape during construction as we responded to the stones and their setting.
